I remember seeing Mike and Vicky at Marina Bay; don't recall if they kept their boat there, but we'd see them on the docks there and out on the water.  Fellow mariners.

Mike and Vicki [Sawyer] have remained my closest friends since middle school. Mike was like a brother to me along with all the guys of the Knoll, Joe Zona, Bob MCLaughlin, Nick Rucky. It was coffee in the morning then off in the big blue bomber to Central Jr. High., Mike driving of course. Mikes house was like my second home and his Mom, Betty like a second mother. The walks back home after football practice and the nickle cups of coffe at the little dognut shop across from the stadium. I remeber leaving a window ajar at school so we could sneak back in that night to paint shorts on the greek plaques on both sides of the auditorium walls. We never got caught but after all these years I must admit it was Mike and I who did it. We used to go out to the airbase at Squantum to the old abandoned hanger and fly our model airplanes, later on as we got older we would drink out at Squaw Rock with half the under age drinkers in Boston. Great sights and awesome discussions about what we would be when we got older, how we would always be friends forever. and we were...and still are..

Mike worked down on the beach at HoJos and we used to get free eats. I stayed clear of the fried clams though for obvious reasons. They were delighted in giving customers fried clams of the human variety..yuck. I kept in touch with Mike and Vicki over the years and was pleased that he and Vicki were able to attend my daughter Coleen's wedding. We had a great friendship over the years and when he left the last time I gave him a big hug and told him that I loved him as a brother. We spoke a few more times and then he got sick and left us all with fond memories that we made over the years. Mike and I would go to the Marina to see his boat and he would fill me in on all the secrets.  Mike Smith, I will miss you my brother, you blessed us all with your friendship, you leave us with cherished memories. Mike you were my best friend, thank you. Your friend and brother in spirit, Tee
