School Story:
Ted Stevenson was honored in late January for his many years with the North Quincy basketball program. It’s quite a long article in the February 5 edition of the Quincy Sun, but here is a summary.
Stevenson was head coach of the NQHS boys’ basketball program for 15 years (1987 to 2002). He was also a coach with the boys and girls JV programs. Ted played basketball at North for Ken Erickson and at Boston State College under Celtics Great Jim Loscutoff.
Ted won 149 games as a coach. He averaged nearly 19 points per game as a player. He is a member of the North Quincy Hall of Fame.
In his first season in 1987, Stevenson coached his son, Ted, Jr., and Bob Herman who would eventually become his son-in-law. His son won the scoring title in the Suburban League, and is a member of the North Quincy Hall of Fame with his dad. His grandson Ethan is a freshman on the North hockey team.
