Beverly C. Zinkus (Fennelly)

Beverly Cathleen Fennelly, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at Milton Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 22, 1946, in Boston, Beverly was the daughter of Alice and John P. Zinkus, and she lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and dedication.

Beverly's journey began with her education at Northeastern University, where she earned a degree in microbiology. She dedicated the next two decades of her professional life to serving as a microbiologist at South Shore Hospital, later continuing her career for another twenty years at Milton Hospital. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her character, embodying the values of dedication and service to the community.

A beloved wife, Beverly shared her life with her husband, Richard Bruce Fennelly. Together, they built a home filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories. Her legacy lives on through her son, Sean C. Fennelly, and daughter-in-law Theresa Fennelly, as well as her adored grandchildren, Nathaniel and Gabriel Fennelly. They brought immense joy to Beverly’s life, and she treasured every moment spent listening to their stories and sharing countless experiences with them.

Beverly was not only a devoted mother and grandmother but also a caring sister. She is survived by her brother, John P. Zinkus, and sister-in-law Marie Zinkus, as well as a large family of nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She was a loving aunt to Glenn Zinkus, Lee Lee, Mark Zinkus, and a great aunt to many, including Jillian, Shana, Jake, Joe, Ava, Allison, Stephanie, Samantha, and great-great aunt to Mia, Sofia, Scarlett, James, Wyatt, Madison and Finely. The bonds of family were a cornerstone in Beverly's life, and she nurtured them with her kindness and warmth.

Beverly had a passion for travel, enjoying many trips to Bermuda and various cruises that filled her life with adventure and excitement. Summers spent at the Samoset Resort in Maine were particularly special to her, where she could relax and create treasured memories.

Cooking and baking were skills she loved to share. Whether it was whip up a family favorite or bake treats for her grandchildren, her culinary talents brought joy to those around her, and her kitchen was always filled with a certain magic that can only come from love.

Though she faced challenges in her health, Beverly's spirit remained unyielding. Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled; yet, her cherished memories will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.

Beverly’s life will be celebrated with a visitation on April 3, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Keohane Funeral Home in Quincy and a funeral service on April 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Old South Church in Weymouth, followed by She will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on April 4, 2025.

Beverly Cathleen Fennelly will forever be remembered for her generous spirit, love for family, and unyielding strength. She touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday April 4, 2025 at 10 AM in Old South Church - Weymouth, . Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. So sorry to hear that Beverly has passed. I never knew her in high school but our husbands were both Quincy firefighters so we were together many times over the years at functions and parties with the QFD families. She was always upbeat and a lot of fun. We enjoyed talking about our grandchildren and our travels. Rest in peace Beverly. 🙏🏻<>>
